3D ANIMATION ABOUT PURIFYING AQUATEXTILE
TenCate AquaVia creates solutions to protect natural resources and thus build a more sustainable world for future generations. An example of this eco-conscious endeavour is TenCate GeoClean®, the result of 10 years of R&D. TenCate GeoClean® is an autonomous, maintenance-free and environmentally friendly solution for managing runoff water. It is a geotextile layer that purifies runoff water as it infiltrates into the soil, ensuring that harmful substances such as oil and grease leaks do not contaminate the soil. In the geotextile layer, the binding of hydrocarbons leads to their biological breakdown. However, how do you explain this complex process and its application, and make the benefits visible? C4Real came up with the solution: through 3D animations.
THE SOLUTION: 3D ANIMATIONS
For the explanation of the principle of how GeoClean® works and what the benefits are, C4Real has developed a 3D animation. The 3D animation clearly shows the value of this solution for the living environment of people, allowing us to enjoy beautiful clean water in nature during our leisure time. In the 3D animation, we follow a droplet that takes us through our current world, during which we travel by train or by car and leave traces of oil and fat behind. To explain how the principle of GeoClean® works, a 2D animation has been included, which realistically illustrates the breakdown of oil and fat by bacteria. In this way, it is possible to make a complex process visible that cannot be seen with the naked eye. The production is without voice-over; in this case, images speak more than 1000 words. However, the graphics are available in 4 languages (NL, EN, FR, DU).
THE PROCESS
The approach of C4Real involves a concept phase and a production phase, preceded by an analysis. To create accurate animations, it is essential to fully understand how the product works. Notably, for this 3D animation, there was a very comprehensive concept phase that was gone through. The pure functionality of the product in a narrow sense is embedded in a 3D world, a model in the shape of an island measuring even 10-15 km wide (!), which visualizes the potential application areas of GeoClean®. By following the journey of the drop in this world, the overall story becomes clear. The higher goal is, after all, to contribute to a more sustainable world with GeoClean®. It is clear that a lot of conceptual thinking was necessary to realize this impact. In terms of time, this case took half of the assignment (normally, the concept phase takes about 25% of the time).
THE FINAL RESULT
The added value of this 3D animation of TenCate GeoClean® is that the higher objective of TenCate AquaVia is clearly visualized. TenCate GeoClean® contributes to a sustainable living environment where people can enjoy the clean nature together. How the principle of the aquatextile layer works is explained in powerful imagery in the 2D animation.
This 2D animation has also been delivered separately (short version film of 1.32 minutes), so it can also be used in presentations and on the website. The long version film lasts 2.21 minutes. The film is also shown at trade fairs and on social media. It is clear that the principle and benefits of GeoClean® have been visualized in a unique, impressive, and distinctive way. This certainly makes sales conversations much easier!
