Chemistry & Raw Materials

Chemical processes are by definition invisible. We make visible what happens inside a reactor, a tank or at a molecular level, for customers, prospects and employees who need to understand it.

Companies we have successfully helped

The specialist in visualisations for chemistry and raw materials

Your visualisation partner for chemical processes and raw materials

Chemistry is difficult to explain. Not because it is hard, but because it is invisible. Organic peroxides in a polymerisation process, molecular bonds in a raw material, hazardous reactions in a tank: the core of your product and your added value takes place at a level that no one can see with the naked eye.

This makes sales conversations difficult, safety training hard to land and product positioning abstract. C4Real makes chemical processes and product properties visible with 3D animations and VR applications that work for customers, prospects and employees. We work for chemical companies and raw material suppliers who want to have a 3D animation or VR application made for sales, marketing or safety training.

Why visualisations are essential in chemistry and raw materials

Visualisations make invisible chemistry understandable for everyone who works with it.

In the chemical industry, products are sold whose value lies in what they do invisibly. Organic peroxides that make polymerisation possible. Raw materials that disappear into a customer's final product. Safety protocols that protect against hazards that only become visible when it is too late.

C4Real has been working with leading chemical companies for years on visualisations that make precisely that clear. For Nouryon, we created 3D animations that show at a molecular level why their products are the best choice, and a VR training that teaches customers how to work safely with hazardous substances. Haimo Tonnaer from Nouryon described it like this: customers who had already seen the animation online came to the table enthusiastically and asked if they could use the material for training purposes. For AkzoNobel, we translated the polymerisation process into a corporate film that not only convinces prospects, but is also used by top management and students as an explanatory tool.

The result: a sales conversation that gets to the point faster, safety training that sticks, and communication material that keeps working long after the first conversation is over.

Our Services

With the use of visual technologies that make the difference

At C4Real, we use 3D animations, VR applications and process visualisations to make chemical processes and product properties understandable for customers, prospects and employees. A 3D animation explains the process or product property clearly, even to non-chemists. VR training allows employees and customers to practise hazardous situations in a safe environment. A process visualisation makes the operation of an installation or production line insightful for everyone in the chain. We prefer to work from existing technical documentation and product specifications: this makes the process more efficient and the end result more accurate.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most frequently asked
questions about chemical raw materials

What are the benefits of visual communication for companies in the chemical industry?

Chemical companies that deploy visualisations see three concrete benefits that directly address the challenges of the sector.

Greater persuasiveness in the sales process: customers buying a chemical product as an ingredient for their own production process only understand the added value when they see what happens at a molecular level. A visualisation makes that visible and accelerates the decision.

Better perception of safety among customers and employees: hazardous substances require well-informed people. A visualisation or VR training shows what normally remains invisible, what happens inside a tank, how a reaction proceeds, so that safe working is not an abstract instruction but an understood choice.

Faster adoption of innovations: with a revolutionary new process, the market has no frame of reference. Nouryon's first animations were made for purchasing managers and achieved more than 50,000 views on YouTube after a few years. Customers came to the table enthusiastically because they had already seen the animation online.

How do you convince customers of the added value of a chemical product that they cannot see?

In the chemical industry, a customer often buys an ingredient that disappears into their own product. The added value lies in what the chemical product does during the production process, not in what it looks like. AkzoNobel Polymer Chemistry had exactly that problem: customers thought they were buying plastics, whereas AkzoNobel supplies the chemical products that customers use to make plastics themselves. C4Real created a visualisation that makes the polymerisation process visible at a molecular level and quickly shows why AkzoNobel is the right partner. The result: customers and prospects quickly and simply understood the added value. Even top management and students without a technical background immediately understood what AkzoNobel stands for.

How do you ensure safety awareness among customers who work with hazardous chemical substances?

Safety communication in the chemical industry has a structural problem: the hazards are invisible until it is too late. A written manual or classroom training does not provide sufficient insight into what actually happens when a hazardous substance is mishandled. Nouryon solved this with a combination of 3D animations and VR training that shows customers what happens inside a tank during a chemical process, in a way that normally remains invisible. The initial reaction of customers to the training was consistent: they immediately asked if they could use the material for their own training purposes. Nouryon is therefore a pioneer in the chemical industry when it comes to visual safety communication.

How do you convince a market of a revolutionary new chemical process?

With a truly innovative product or process, the communication challenge is greater than with an existing product. The market is not familiar with the process, has no frame of reference for it, and must become a first mover in something that has not yet been proven in practice. DSM faced exactly that challenge with a new powder coating process for MDF: revolutionary because, for the first time, it works electrostatically without chemicals, but unknown to the market that had to adopt it. C4Real created a visualisation that quickly brings the process and its benefits to life, enabling DSM to explain rapidly on their website, in sales pitches, and at trade fairs why the market needed to change. All without any real-world examples being available yet.

How does a visualisation project at C4Real work?

C4Real works in two phases. In the first phase, concept and design, we translate the communication issue into a visual approach. We determine which format works best, which message is central, and how the target group can best be reached. At the end of this phase, C4Real delivers a concrete concept for the client to feedback on. Only then does the second phase begin: production. This approach keeps the scope clear, prevents surprises afterwards, and gives the client a say at a stage when adjustments are still easy to make.

How much does a 3D animation or product visualisation cost for an installation product?

The costs depend on the complexity of the process, the desired level of detail, and the application. A short process animation for a sales pitch requires a different investment than a multi-year project involving animations, VR training, and content for multiple channels, as Nouryon has built up. C4Real works with a menu of solution levels, ensuring there is always an approach that fits the budget and the communication goal. Contact us for a consultation without obligation.
